An honest count, for you and your team.
Atend records what you did, never what you wrote: idle or active, the app in focus, whether an agent was running. Metadata, not the content of your work. That's what makes the hours trustworthy, whether you're tracking your own day or running a team.
What Atend records
- Whether you were active or idle
- Which application was in focus (its name, not its contents)
- Whether a tracked agent or process was running
- Start and end times of activity
- The domain of the site in focus, only if you turn on browser attribution (the bare domain like acme.com, never the full address, never page contents)
- The project/client a block was attributed to
- Agent events, only if you install the Atend plugin for Claude Code (that a session started or ended, that you sent a prompt, that the agent finished or is waiting for you, how many agents were running, and the folder the session was working in, always the fact and the time, never the text of a prompt or a reply)
What it never records
- Keystrokes or anything you type
- Screenshots or screen recordings
- The contents of documents, messages, or code
- Full web addresses, page contents, or a log of your browsing history
- Webcam, microphone, or location
The one exception: Recap
Core time tracking is metadata only, always. Recap is the single, optional feature that looks at content: when you turn it on, text from your AI chats is used to draft a short bullet-point summary of what you got done. Secrets are stripped in your browser first, the text is sent to your configured AI provider only to produce the bullets, and only the bullet points you approve are stored, never the raw chat. Recap runs only once you connect the extension, and you review every point before anything is stored.
How it's secured
- Your core account and activity data is hosted in the EU (Germany).
- The capture agent's device token is stored encrypted on your machine (Windows DPAPI) and only ever sends metadata over HTTPS.
- The agent keeps a short, rolling diagnostic log on your own machine so an empty day can be explained. It records events, never content, and it stays on your device unless you choose to send it.
- If you install the Atend plugin for Claude Code, it writes a local file of agent events on your machine. Each line records only these things about you and your work: the name of the event and the time it happened, which session it belonged to and which AI tool produced it, the folder that session was working in (a path on your own machine, the same folder your time is already attributed to), and, where the tool reports them, the kind of notification and which subagent it came from. It never records the text of a prompt or a reply, and never a pointer to where that text is kept. The Atend agent reads that file on your device, and the file itself never leaves that device.

Signed by a real publisher
The Atend installer is code-signed. When Windows asks before it runs, you will see a named publisher, ClarityBuilds Ltd., not 'Unknown publisher'. You can verify it yourself: right-click the installer, open Properties, and check the Digital Signatures tab. It is the same company behind your data and your invoices.
Our commitments
- We measure work, not people. No screenshots, no keystroke logging, on any plan.
- Your recap is yours. It's built from sources you connect, scrubbed of secrets, and every point is yours to edit, keep private, or approve before anyone else sees it.
- A team member always sees their own data. Managers see totals and approved recaps, never content or drafts.
- We sell software, not your activity. Your data is never the product.
- You can export everything and delete your account and data at any time.
Because Atend only counts attended work and stores no content, both sides of a team can trust the number: the employee that it's fair, the employer that it's real.
